Starting the day early
03/07/2025Starting the day early has its advantages. It just keeps you up in the game and gives lots of momentum to what you are working on. Early start plus an early workout is a combination which is working well for me right now. It just sets the mood right for the day.
We does not account for our motivation
02/07/2025Have you thought about this, every time when we plan something, we always think from a max productivity estimate. you may not be productive the same way at all time. Say morning, you might be really good with deep work. you really dont want to be disturbed and you are able to get most out of it. Now, after noon, you may not be up to the core of the deep work, but you should be able to help with consulting for folks. The clear separation is what will help us get more things done. And we never consider our energy levels and would not plan accordingly rather we blame ourselves for not getting things done.
You are never in rush
27/06/2025We always feel pressured to do stuff in some time, even though nothing will happen if you would have taken some more time and had taken care of your personal life or your new learning, it would have a great impact. And which counter intuitively improve the overall productivity. When you will pressured or rushed, just think back on all the times where you delivered under pressure, what would have happened if you were late, if you are already late, did it matter much?. Happy tuesday folks.
Morning walk
26/06/2025And today I went for a walk near Seetharampalya lake. It was refreshing, and it helped to clear things in brain. When you wake up in morning, sometime there will be this confusion state of brain for sometime, not all day ofcourse, but when you take this walk in a green place, it just comes to a normal clear state.
When you wish for something
25/06/2025I have heard this thing a lot, whether you call it expecation effect, law of attraction, or luck factor, etc. whatever it is, sometimes when you really wish for something to happen, it would happen eventually, it may not be that day or month, but most likely it would happen considering you wanted it so badly and you have taken enough measures towards that.
Being happy first
24/06/2025We often forget about this principle. Being happy in your mind irrespective of your outside situation. Our brain is very much biased to our mental state, if the mind is in a positive state, it invokes more creativity and will power to whatever you do. Most of the time, when something is not going wrong, we rather become upset and try to do whatever we can without changing the mind state, which may not be helping actually. If we can tune our mind to a positive and optimisitic state even incase of adversity, we would be able to reap better results.
What inspires you
23/06/2025When we think about what we are inspired and gets you up in the morning every day. I think its a balance of things. Its your relationships with people like your family friends, what do you want to do for them. Whether it be the work, how you want to contribute to your organisation so that they can achieve their goals and your professional journey itself, what can you do more so that you enjoy more. Life is all about experiencing all these. There are no destinations, it is just making sure we all have an enriching experience in each of our moments and ensuring we cherish them to the fullests.
Just having fun
19/06/2025There will be lots of ups and down, if we are able to learn on how to have fun on the go thats the best thing we can do to ourselves. No matter what you bring your high energy on the table so that the people around you are inspired and is uplifted. Sometimes, our mood and behaviour would have a cascading effect on our peers work as well.
Enjoying the walk
18/06/2025When you travel to office in the morning, there would be lots of things going on your mind. There might be some new slack pings, may be some unfinished implementation, etc. It would keep running on the mind and it just doesnt help. Instead if we just look at the breeze and enjoy the walk, and think about these things only when you can act on it. Life would be more peaceful.
Evaluating week
17/06/2025I used to maintain a daily note at work on what I did. Last week, I had moved to weekly planner were I could plan the entire week on Monday and even adhoc task when they come up, you just update the weekly planner. And plan from there and its easy to review the week and get realigned on your goals.
A weekend getaway
16/06/2025This weekend we had gone to Chikmangalur. The drive was amazing and is entirely filled with greenery. You just feel refreshed is very excited for your work on Monday. Some times, getting away from the normal work routine and spending time in nature helps.
My current job is to finish
13/06/2025I came across this idea thinking in terms of current job. In the sense, you are walking to your destination, your currennt job is just to do that. If you are working on something, your current job is just to do that. Rather, we keep thinking about different things and worry too much and does not help at all. And it just helps.
Planned breaks in a day
12/06/2025Even though yesterday, i had written about taking breaks. Sometimes, you get into that flow state while debugging and you wont even know you might have been sitting at the same desk for quite some time. The interesting observation is once you reach the tiredness threshold, it takes a lot of time to recover. Rather, if you ensure you are relaxed in between a major sprint of work and you have taken your food well, then you can go longer way.
Take rest in between
11/06/2025Work is not a sprint, its a marathon. If we take good breaks in between, we can go longer with full energy. In the sense, instead of we sitting in front of laptop straight 4 or 5 hours, then ending up too tired to recover, take breaks in between. You may end up spending 8 - 9 hours extra. But, you would have conserved your energy. People often forget the energy factor when it comes to optimising productivity and getting things done in short time.
Got done a lot
10/06/2025Spent time in gym as well on non work stuff. Guess what, the productiviy was high. No work slumps and was able to get done more things. We tend to priortise just work which at the end result in not getting done things. Isnt it interesting how our mind works.
Focusing back on non work
09/06/2025I make this mistake more often, when more work comes, i priortise work over other things like Gym, etc. Then, I end up losing energy for the work. During the time, we may think, we will go to gym tomorrow, lets get the work done today, but eventually it gets added up. But, definitely the balance is essential to be more proactive at work. You may think that if you have more time to finish those work, you will get more things done. But, definitely thats not the case. Thats what I have observed frrom last 20 days, i had priortised work over gym, but when I review it with the times when I actually went exercising and worked less hours, I had done more things. Its counter intuitive, but thats my observation.
A mindful exercise
06/06/2025I was reading this book Stillness, and I came across this exercise. Just sit an quiet room and just observe your thoughts. You may get some interesting insights.
Life is not going to slow down
05/06/2025Ever observed this we all get this feeling, if that weekend comes. Or if that vacation comes. When I finish this task, etc. This never happens almost all the time. Things are not going to slow down. The only way is to add things in your daily life which matters and cut down on things which really you dont want to do.
Showing up
04/06/2025The only thing what matters is whether you show up and show the willing ness to continue. Some time things may happen a bit delayed, but being patient and showing up consistently is going to make a huge diffeerence.
Analysing time
03/06/2025The only way to priortise what to do rather than not having a clue on how the time went is by deliberately looking at where you spend your time. This is very important.
